Confidential File -Secret Chapters- Directory

Because the content I've translated / scanned from this book is scattered across this blog on multiple pages, I've decided to put together a directory of the content in the book so readers can more easily find what they're looking for. Please note that as I haven't translated the entire book and god knows I probably never will, the unlinked sections below are not (yet?) included on this blog. If anyone's still reading this long-neglected blog, this would be the place to request specific translations in the comments, though! Prologue Q&A For Strangers in Paradise This section primarily teaches how to play the game so it's likely I won't be translating it. Settings File Mission & Battle File Challenge File Secret 1: Story & World Study Character Profiles  View them all in one post at the link above, or individually: Jack Ash Jed Neon Sophia Astos Sarah Bikke King of Cornelia Minister Lagone Queen Jayne Mia Lufenian Darkness Manifest Tiamat Marilith...

_____'s Missives Complete Text

Additional missives from Different Future.

_____'s Missive I

Garland In that godforsaken place, I sought to end the plotting of a newborn spirit, but in my pursuit came upong a new world - a fascinating world. Where Garland and his cohorts wield the power of chaos, and Nil the power of the crystals... Such enchanting crystals... with power rivaling the ore in the realm of battle. If all this was made mine, no force in this world or the other could stand against me. Conjuring an army of the dead to trample all would be a mere trifle.

But first, my machinations require I grasp this Garland's true strength.

_____'s Missive II

The Power of Chaos This is not the Garland from the realm of battle, but his strength is none the lesser. Were he some waifish warrior, I would have squashed him like a fly. The power of chaos, though, is as intriguing as I suspected. With it, one could wreak untold destruction and bloodshed upon the worlds, leaving them in a mire of despair. Yet this Garland lacks imagination. He uses his talents only for brutish battle. Though the time and place may change, perhaps the two are not so different after all.

_____'s Missive III

Crystals The crystals are held by Nil, yet another fool, who employs them for petty revenge and leaves my forces unscathed. Nil's qualifications to rule are precisely that: nil. No doubt that moogle is after the crystals as well. Let them grind each other to dust - I am content to pick up the pieces. Then the power of chaos and crystals alike will be mine. All space, time, and dimensions shall fall into my grasp. Such power is meant only for the supreme ruler, as those feckless apes shall soon come to know.

Lufenian Report Analysis

The following passages expand upon existing Lufenian Report data. The Strangers' True Identity The Lufenians are using humans gathered from other planets to manage the balance of light and darkness in Cornelia. Without knowing this truth, Jack and his companions simply assume they are Lufenian, and consider Station 19 their homeland. In addition, their clothing (their starting equipment) are from their real homeland. Mechanisms of Recreation Lufenians use the term "reset" to describe using the power of the dimensional crystal matrix to go back in time and reconstruct the world.  The Lufenians have used this technology to control the balance of light and darkness through trial and error. In the event of a reset, the lives and memories of the Cornelians are rewound, but a portion of their memories remain in the world as a black mist. Interdimensional Collaborator The collaborator who initiated the Stranger Project has often advised the Lufenians since then, while requesting...

About the title of the game

What's the meaning behind the words "Stranger of Paradise" and "Origin" in the title? Fujiwara: The game based on Final Fantasy I, and the word "stranger" was chosen to express that the main characters come from someplace else that isn't Cornelia. "Paradise" refers to Cornelia, and so together the title means "people who don't belong in Cornelia." I personally like the gap between the concept of paradise, and the harsh, dark atmosphere of the game. Inoue: We pulled "Stranger of Paradise" from phrasing in Nomura's project plan that referred to "the appearance of strangers" and "a place like paradise." "Origin" means just that, that perhaps this is a kind of beginning for the story of Final Fantasy I. Translator's note: Parts of these explanations offer the Japanese definitions of the words in the title, since the title is in English. translated by Jai from Confidential Files - S...
